Pier Fisherman Catches FREE TAMPA BAY SNOOK FISHING TRIP!!

The Ballast Point Park Fishing Pier is a popular spot for fisherman and sight seeing in Tampa Florida. Located in Upper Hillsborough Bay, the park was a great new place for me to try and surprise some unsuspecting fisherman and invite them on a TOTALLY FREE SNOOK FISHING TRIP with me on Tampa Bay.

After netting bait way down at the Fort De Soto Beach Pier, we ran to the new Saint Pete Pier to see if anyone wanted to go. After having no luck there we continued up the bay to Ballast Point Park. Easing down the pier, we saw two people fishing by themselves away from the crowd. I approached them and made them an offer they couldn't refuse. With big smiles on their faces, they hopped on the boat ready to see what adventure awaited them.

At first we tried snapper fishing in the Tampa Bay Shipping channel, however the windy conditions and storms pushed us out of the middle of the bay. We ran over to Weedon Island Preserve and began fishing the flats and mangrove edges. It didn't take long to get the snook excited after I started live chumming with whitebait. We quickly hooked up and were reeling the snook in for a while. Moving inside the mangrove line into one of the lakes inside the preserve, we continued the feeding frenzy. We even had a large Jack Crevalle come into the chum and make a huge crash and splash on the surface while it chased down its meal. I flipped a bait to that area and immeidately hooked up.

The storms wouldn't be held back for long, so we packed it up and headed for Hula Bay. It was an exciting day and I'm glad I got to show two new friends what an exciting day on Tampa Bay Looks like.
