Hello and welcome to Altrusian Grace Media on YouTube. I’m Matthew Schmitz, audiobook narrator, musican and curator of this collection of my original videos.

This channel focuses on ancient, rare, or obscure texts not readily accessible to the public with a focus on Gnostic, Alchemical, and Hermetic traditions and an occasional fictional piece. Some of the books are rarely read or even heard of since they were first published a hundred, sometimes thousands of years ago. I breathe new life into them not only with my unique narrative style but also by adding my own original musical compositions which help to create a relaxed atmosphere for the listener which often makes it easier to absorb the information presented as opposed to hearing just a plain voice narration. In addition to the original compositions featured during my narrations, you'll find the various music projects that I am involved in such as Psyclopean, Sleestak, Illuminated Void, and others.

I narrate all the books and texts found here, I interpret and perform them, so that the wisdom of this great knowledge can be enjoyed anew. This has led to hundreds of my works being digitally distributed worldwide and registered with BMI, a performance rights organization.

I also create and/or creatively manipulate all the artwork to accompany the audio which includes using various effects and video editing software. This makes for a unique and visually interesting backdrop to keep the listener and viewer engaged with the material. Often times this involves painstakingly reformatting and editing these old texts and incorporating them into the art itself so that it is more accessible in a video format. This has proven extremely valuable for those who enjoy reading along or learning English.

I often do extensive personal reading into the books, scouring the dark corners of the internet to hunt them down and research to find related images and assets that may have been part of the original publications. Many times I have to use photo editing software to enhance or repair these images because of low resolution or poor digital scans.
