Liar, Liar Pants on Fire: A CBT Counseling Game

Liar, Liar Pants on Fire is a counseling game designed to help children understand motivation for telling lies. It incorporates humor and psychoeducation to help children process various reasons children may tell lies and to process the consequences for doing so. The therapist is able to use this as a tool to open dialogue about untruthful behavior. The goal is to help normalize feelings, provide alternative behaviors, and to give insight.

The game plays like "Old Maid." Players will take turns taking one card from another player's hand. If they get a match, they will lie it down. Whoever is left with the Liar, Liar Pants on Fire card at the end of the game loses the round.
