Watch: Protestors and Police clash at the National War Memorial yesterday in Ottawa.
It is unknown exactly what lead up to the clash between police and these particular protestors. There is a claim being made that the police attempted to apprehend someone, and a few people intervened in an attempt to stop police from said apprehension.
Unfortunately, there is no video I have been able to locate that shows the very beginning of this interaction. What I can see are a few particular protestors going after officers. In the videos, I saw one man fighting with an officer at the beginning of the video. Another man comes running from a distance and lunges at the officer, knocking her to ground. I saw another man placing what looks to be a female officer in a hold. Police say 4 people have been arrested for assaulting police and the investigation is ongoing.
If more information becomes available I will update.
