When People Allow Pride To Formulate In Their Hearts Towards Others - Mark 10:13-16

At This Point, The Disciples Had A Wrong View Of…

The Ministry

Many of the disciples expected Jesus to overthrow the Roman government and establish His earthly kingdom.

In their minds, there was no need to waste time on children

They were still trying to process the words and rebuke of Jesus when the rich you ruler approached the Lord (Mark 10:17-22).

If you desire to be in the ministry of the Lord, He will test you to see if you are humble or prideful.

If you desire to be in the ministry of the Lord, He will test you are need or self-satisfied.

If you desire to be in the ministry of the Lord, He will test you to see if you treat all people the same or give special attention to people who are affluent (with money).

How many people in church give honor to people who:

-Have more money than them?
-Have more influence than them?
-Have more stuff than them?

Warning: God pays attention to church folks and how they treat other people in HIS House.

The Kingdom

Matthew 4:23

The purpose for Communion is so that we look FORWARD to the coming Kingdom. Matthew 26:27-29

The Kingdom of God treats everyone the same and fair.

The Kingdom of God does not fit into the Kingdom of the World.

Kingdom of the World (KOW) vs Kingdom of God (KOG)

TRUST/ KOW: Trusts in the power of the Sword
TRUST/ KOG: Trust in the power of the Cross
AIM/ KOW: Looks to control behavior from the outside
AIM/ KOG: Looks to transforms lives from the inside out
SCOPE/ KOW: Centered around people groups of power and ideology, and political agendas. looks to defend and advance its position at all costs
SCOPE/ KOG: Centered around all people with the sole purpose to see Christ replicated in a person’s life to see their life change at all cost
RESPONSE/ KOW: basically a tit-for-tat, eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth mentality. It carries a sword.
RESPONSE/ KOG: Loves enemies, bless those who curse them, carries a cross, not a sword.
BATTLES/ KOW: Has earthly enemies and fights earthly battles.
BATTLES/ KOG: Has no earthly enemies and fights spiritual battles. See Ephesians 4

The Children

How We Can Become Like Children Before The Lord:

-Children are humble and dependent upon their parents.

-Children are trusting and learners of truth.

-Children are always looking with wonder and awe with what God is doing.

-Children are never born Atheist or Agnostic

-Children are always looking to see the best in everyone.

-Children are color blind.
