A hippo playing with a ball

The hippo's two small ears and a pair of thin eyes form a sharp contrast with its huge body. Its nostrils and ears are almost flat on the top of its face, so that its eyes, nose, and ears remain above the water when its body submerges into the water.

Thick rough skin

The hippo was covered with water and wore a thick, coarse, taupe coat

The front teeth

Instead of growing upwards, the hippo's lower incisors jut out in parallel, like shovels.
