Jesus Speaks About the End- The Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24)

The Olivet Discourse found in Matthew 24 is largely a description of the great tribulation, which is a 7 year period that proceeds the second coming of Jesus Christ. That 7 year period is known as the 70th week of Daniel. There are many parallels between the 70 weeks predictions found in Daniel 9 and the lessons of Jesus found in Matthew 24.

The beginning of birth pains (or pangs) is an expression found throughout the Bible in reference to the Day of the Lord, the great tribulation of God's judgment of earth. Jesus uses the phrase in Matthew 24 as a marker for the beginning of this final 7 year period before His 2nd coming.

Jesus gives many signs and descriptions of the final great tribulation period, one of which would be that the love of many would grow cold.

What is the abomination of desolation that Jesus warns of in Matthew 24? The phrase is found several times in Daniel, as Jesus said, but this event is further detailed in other passages of the Bible, like Revelation 13.

The Mark of the Beast, the False Prophet, lights in the skies, and other elements of the bizarre and other-worldly tribulation period.

“For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect." Unimaginable advances in AI, stunning medical break-throughs, deadly wounds healed, and fallen angels masquerading as friendly alien civilizations, among others. The false signs and wonders will be extremely convincing.

Like the days leading up to the Flood of Noah, we are in the days leading up to the Great Tribulation. What will it look like when the time has come? Are you ready for the rapture? What must we do to be saved?
