A Path to Statistics - Episode 1: Correcting for Overcounting

Antonio is a high school dropout who decided that he can learn enough math to make a career leap. I offered to work with him if he would let me record the lessons. This is an opportunity for the world to see that with a little guidance, the effort you put in can elevate you. Far more people can learn mathematics than realize it, but our educational systems are often out of tune with their basic needs. One teacher relationship is often enough to fix that.

Our goal in these video lessons is to traverse the ground from revisiting PreAlgebra topics all the way through undergraduate statistics. We hope that others can learn from the material.

Sadly, we lost the video of the first two hours of work. So, this episode skips over those discussions of "Counting with Arithmetic", "Venn Diagrams", "List Making (to count)", "Basics of Casework", and "Permutations".

In this lessons, Antonio and I talk through "Corrections for Overcounting" in events where symmetry allows us to first count using an overly simple approach, then to correct those results to arrive at the right total.
