Rebelling against one’s elders is almost a modern rite of passage. But it’s usually temporary and partial. Today’s youth culture, however, seems to profoundly distrust the generations that came before it. In the school, the workplace, the home, and even the church, much of the youngest generation, even when they pass in adulthood, continue to distrust their elders. What roles have social media, technology, and changes in family and religious belief played in this? And how can we rebuild intergenerational trust?
