Robert McNamara's approach to the Vietnam War was disastrously myopic. He looked merely at quantifiable data, like number of troops and body count, and neglected other important aspects like troop morale and how ideologically driven the Viet Cong were.

There are a lot of other areas where people tend to ignore important aspects just because they can't be quantified, including education, business management, and even medical studies.
