A little bird with red legs

Bird mating is acrobatic. To do this, the male climbs onto the female's back while balancing, and together they flap their wings to hold their bodies in a stable position for a few seconds, with the female tail up and the male tail down. This inconvenient mating is short, often interrupted and has to start all over again, sometimes more than twenty times before it succeeds. Birds usually mate at or near the nest, with a few exceptions, such as swifts mating in the air.
