As we find ourselves now in mid-August Americans deal with many sources of stress. Open rioting and looting are taking place in significant American cities, such as Chicago, Seattle and Portland. It’s nearly time for school to open: will it open, under what conditions will it open; what restraints will be placed upon students? There have been a lot of discussions regarding the almost endless possibilities and considerations. Parents and teachers are exchanging emails, officials are suggesting guidelines, and there have even been White House conferences regarding the opening of school in a few weeks.

But one very significant group has been widely overlooked in the public debate: what do the students think of the current circumstances, and of how they feel about the coming school year.

For this episode of Poly-Psych Podcast we decided to ask two students, “Rouge,” and “Lars,” how they are impacted by current events that drastically alter their everyday lives, and what they think of wearing masks at school.
