This young woman accurately articulates how very many of us felt growing up with parents that believed their only job was to provide material things. Through a series of questions, she brings into focus the emotional impact of common statements made across black households.. ie.. "I can wait for yall to turn 18 and get the hell out my house". These kinds of phrases decribed their relationship.. their rellevance.. their history.. in way that had lasting impact and ultimately drove a permanent wedge between black parents and their children.
