Life of Pi teaches you to live in the moment. One must not focus on the results but just on the efforts. It is the efforts that are important and not the results neither are they in your control.

Had Pi only focused on reaching the shore, he would have never made it alive out of the ocean. It was the tiger who kept him alive as he was focusing only on saving his life from him.
