I Used To See A ‘Monster’ In The Mirror | BORN DIFFERENT

AN advocate of changing all things “negative into positive”, James McLeod, 39, lives in New York and was born with Vitiligo on one side of his face. Growing up he says: “Vitiligo was a nightmare” and that he was afraid to look at himself in the mirror as he thought his reflection “was a monster.” That was until his mother’s affirming words to him one day caused him to change his perspective about being different and instead, hold his head high. This resulted in James writing two children’s books as he aspires to encourage and inspire kids who have endured similar experiences to overcome their hardship.
