soap chat episode 3 how we make the packaging for our soap

When looking for packaging ideas for our soap, we were faced with a lot of decisions. Should we use cellophane? Boxes? Cigar bands? We decided that we loved the look of paper wrapped soap, but we wanted it to be beautiful and to really reflect our brand. I have seen videos where people use craft paper to cut their cigar bands or to wrap the bar with, but we really wanted it to have our logo. We went to several printing places for quotes on custom paper to wrap our soap. When the quotes started rolling in the prices were high. Not when you broke it down to how much it would cost for each bar of soap, but the initial investment was astronomical. You had to buy a huge amount to make it worth while for the printer. Quotes came in for anywhere from $700 to $1,400. Well, we are a family based business and, although I loved the look, we don't have that kind of cash laying around for packaging. I mean- we are in the middle of a pandemic. I have three kids to feed. So we decided to stick with the biodegradable cellophane that we were using. Until I was shopping one day at Restaurant Depot and saw the deli paper. We had an epiphany. We could make the paper ourselves. This video shows exactly how we make our wrapping paper for our bars of soap. All for less than $10!!!. Yes, the stamps cost money, but we had ours already because we stamp our boxes when we ship. Yes it is time consuming, but remember those three kids I mentioned? They like stamping. And it is a way for them to earn a little pocket money to go out with their friends.
