Garden's End! 8 25 20

Lori Fiechter with my last actual garden video for the year. Maybe I'll show you what it looks like when it is completely empty, but that's a few weeks off! The garden looks a lot less messy since Stan ripped nearly out all the tomato plants...nice wide rows for the peppers and lima beans now.

It has been a very good year--surprisingly so! I learned that I won't plant carrots or cabbage or scallions next year, that basil is better off far from the corn or soybean fields, and that we don't need so many tomato plants and pepper plants! And we will buy only certified potato seeds next year!

and kill the grasshoppers while they are still nymphs! On the "let's do that again" side, using straw worked great around the plants and between the rows. Using posts and strings worked well, but next year Stan said more posts to keep those peppers and limas off the ground.

Hope your garden was rewarding as well this year! Now my focus will be more on the kitchen...I'm ready for some cooler temperatures!
