Bonny Meyer is the Principal of Meyer Family Enterprises, an investment company dedicated to the regeneration of the planet and society. After selling Silver Oak Cellars in 2001, Bonny is now a partner in Meyer Family Cellars, a winery run by her son, Matt, and daughter-in-law, Karen. She’s the author of the upcoming memoir: PERFECTLY PAIRED The Love Affair Behind Silver Oak Cellars.

Existing mostly in front of a laptop in an East Williamsburg basement, front person Eli Sokolow, acts more as a mad scientist than a composer. There he spends countless hours mixing serums of cellphone demos, samples, and beats, to generate the bands unique sound. Endorsed by the likes of Matt Johnson (St. Vincent, Jeff Buckley) and even Slash, Sokolow has been able to make quite a name for himself during his twenty one years on this planet. On the surface their music is bombastic, wild and even a little bit joyful, but underneath the surface, Sokolow’s lyrics point to dire and biting truths. This anxiety is best illustrated by “I’m So Strange,” with its joyous whistle laden tune being in sharp contrast to lines like, “I went from Watching Nickelodeon to watching you Shoot Heroin.” The Living Strange clearly have a mission, and that mission is to rage as hard as possible against the dying of a world they are just getting to know.
