Pilgrims and Strangers

Here they are, coming to your city
To your little village, down the lane
They come to heal the brokenhearted, take away your pain
They ain’t got no fine raiment
They got no worldly acclaim
The preach deliverance to the captives
Salvation yeah in Jesus’ name

They left their homes and their families
They heard the call, it was loud and clear
To open the eyes of the blind
Take away your fear
So if your body’s bent and broken
Or if your mind has gone insane
Get on down to the altar
And be made whole in Jesus’ name

They’re no fugitives, they’re no vagabonds
They’re pilgrims and strangers indeed
This old world’s not worthy of them
This land of vice and greed
They are not after your money
They don’t seek fortune or fame
Just signs and wonders and miracles
Souls restored in Jesus’ name

And so one day, when it’s all said and done
They will leave this troubled place
For the mansions waiting for them
Far from this earthly plain
No more suffering, no more sorrow
A heavenly country they will claim
There’s no salvation in any other
There is no name above Jesus’ name
