Gold Fever Trail, also known as 3N16 is an easy dirt road that takes you through the heart of the historic Holcomb Valley in Big Bear. This area was a booming gold-rush town in the 1800s and there are several historical spots to stop and look at. Some of the spots are a bit sparse, and there isn't much left to see, but Gold Fever Trail is still a fun, easy, relaxing drive. The most interesting stop is the old Lucky Baldwin Mine, however we weren't able to make it there on this day so it's not shown in the video. The large field with the horses is technically not part of "Gold Fever Trail", but you can find it about a half-mile west of 2N09 Polique Canyon Road, on 3N16 - the horses and the land are private property so please do not cross the fences or disturb the horses.
3N16/Gold Fever Trail is a flat, easy road that any 4WD or AWD vehicle can easily drive. 4WD is not necessary, but the roads can get bumpy and rutted so the extra clearance is needed.
