The Starship SN9 exploded in the final stages of its descent, just as the SN8 was destroyed before it. The Starship SN9 was a prototype of the heavy-lift rocket being developed by billionaire Elon Musk's company to carry humans and a 100-ton cargo on missions to the moon and Mars in the future.
