Hola! In this video, we take you on a tour of the Konrad Family Farm, Finca Hermosa, near Vilcabamba, Ecuador. We showcase the many local exotic fruit trees, medicinal plants, local fruits and veggies, as well as a terrifying spider, and the legendary "serpiente verde." which we caught trying to eat our son, Nagual. There is also a cute cat scene.
Vilcabamba is a village in the southern region of Ecuador, in Loja Province, about 45 km (28 mi) from the city of Loja. The etymology of the name “Vilcabamba” derives from the Quichua “huilco pamba.” Huilco denotes the sacred trees, Anadenanthera colubrina (Yopo snuff, a DMT containing shamanic plant medicine, that inhabit the region; pamba is a word meaning “a plain”.
Nestled in the Andean foothills, only a short distance from the Amazon, "The Valley of Longevity" has been a sacred place for many peoples throughout history
The area has been referred to as the "Playground of the Inca" which refers to its historic use as a retreat for Incan royalty. The valley is overlooked by a mountain called Mandango, the Sleeping Inca, whose presence is said to protect the area from earthquakes and other natural disasters.
In part 2, we will tour the town, check out some natural landmarks, hostels, and indigenous crafts.

The spider featured in this vid was captured and released 100 yards from the house. He was back in the bathroom last night. And the thorny tree is a Kapok tree
