In order to speak English fluently, you need to learn:
Rhythm
Tone
Inflection
Pauses

These are the parts that are often missing from non-native English speakers. To become fluent in English, you need to work on mastering these 4 parts of speech. Rhythm helps your sentences flow naturally. Tone helps to explain what feeling of the sentence is. Is the sentence happy? Sad? Just a fact. Inflections help the listener know which words are most important in a sentence. Pauses are very important because they emphasize important information in a sentence. Pauses help to prepare the listener for information they need to know.

Today we will look at how important pauses are. Pauses help the listener know that the next thing you say is important. When we hear silence, we listen harder! We also pause after every punctuation. , : ; ! ?

Here is an example sentence:
The best thing about this is it's all free!

Where is the important part? Where should the pause be?

The best thing about this Is it's all free!

Now that we have the pause we can also add in the rhythm. Where is the rhythm?

The best thing about this is it's all free!

There we go. Now we know how to use both rhythm and pauses in a sentence. In the next lesson, we will learn about tone. See you soon.
