I want to welcome the program Amane Badhasso. She's a candidate for Congress in Minnesota's fourth district. Running in a primary against Betsy McCollum. A longtime congresswoman from that district Amane welcomed the program. Thanks so much for having me, Sam, and everyone else. Thank you. So all right, let's start with just telling us a little bit about the fourth district, and then we'll get to know why you're running in this primary. Yeah, absolutely so the fourth district is Ramsey county in some parts of Washington county. But the majority of it is Ramsey St paul. It is a democratic district. Democratic majority. In fact, the progressive majority because we supported Bernie Sanders overwhelmingly in 2016 and 2020. And you know it's a majority of the working class. I for example live on the east side of St Paul. Which is the majority working class. We have over 40 percent of folks of color in this district. And it is also home to the largest majority of former refugees in the state of Minnesota right next to the fifth district where representative Omar is. And so I feel incredibly honored because this was the place that gave me a home when I was 13 years old. When I moved here as a refugee. Okay and so let's get into this it this is an interesting race. Because it pits ostensibly two people and again there's really no chance of a Republican winning this seat. So this just becomes a question of you know what is the nature of the representation.
