Fixing a washed out ditch with Tractor & Tiller, Land management tips
If you own land, or lease land that is in somewhat hilly country or if you have some low spots then you might have some washed out ditch crossings that could use some fixing so that you don't sprain your neck or back every time that you cross them with an ATV, a UTV, a tractor or even a pick up truck. Well, I HAD one such ditch on our Southern Illinois farm that is in the middle of a farm field that used to be planted in soybean and corn crops, but now we are converting it to warm season grasses and natural regeneration to create some new wildlife cover. This crossing has always been a 'pain' to cross, no matter what vehicle you were in! Literally! It was not really big, but it was a sharp ditch caused from water erosion over the last few years. It was about 2 feet wide and about 2 feet deep, so it really caused a jolt if you forgot about it and hit it at anything more than like 3 mph!! Well today I finally tackled it while I was working on planting fall food plots. This is a really cheap and easy way to improve, remove or at least reduce a washed out ditch if you have a tractor and tiller! In my case I have a Kioti RX7320 tractor and a Rhino heavy duty tiller. Join me for a few minutes to cure this washed out ditch crossing and maybe stay tuned to Kapper Outdoors to see how long it holds up into the future!
