Lao Tzu was a chinese philosopher born in China, founder of Taoism, one of the oldest and most important religions in China. He is credited with authoring the Daode Jing, the so-called Book of Supreme Reason, the Taoist bible. His doctrine defended the existence of a supreme principle, the tao, which would govern the course of the universe and ultimately the moral nature of the good man.
