Friday Morning Devotions from Bethany Church, October 2, 2020

For our Friday devotion we return back to the letters of Samuel Rutherford and today we read as Rutherford wrote to a minister named Robert Douglas who evidently wrote an angry letter to Rutherford. Douglas expressed his anger at God for allowing Rutherford to be in prison. Rutherford reminds him that the God they serve is the God of providence and even the worst of human circumstances show forth the glory of the LORD.

The second letter was from a William Rigg who is an official of the court trying to get Rutherford out of the Aberdeen jail. Rutherford likewise assures Rigg that the Lord will release him when He is ready. In the meantime they are to both rejoice in Christ.

Be blessed today!

This is letter No. 228 and 229 in the Banner of Truth Edition.
