What is the passage saying?
-What does this mean for me?
1.) v.22-24 Jesus & John the Baptist are about the work of ministry
-I should focus on sharing the Gospel and being a part of people's life change.
2.) v.25-26 Dispute over purification, but really about personalities and followings.
-I should never assume the stated issue is the real issue
-I should be careful of people following a person
3.) v.27-29 John points back to the ministry being God's/we have roles
-I should never think my life or my influence is about me
-I should remember my role in the work- not envy others
-I should not compete for influence, but for faithfulness
4.) v. 30 Jesus must increase, I must decrease
-I should only lift up Jesus' name and accept that I am replaceable.
