#Coilostylisciliaris #SemiHydro #Selfwatering
Many, many years ago, I could not source leca that DID NOT FLOAT! So, I started to switch my set up from organic, clay pots and bark, to inorganic, lava rock and semi hydro. Coilostylis ciliares is the last of the big orchids that remains in this set up, but I want to change it to match the rest of my collection, which is leca and semi hydro. Now that it is showing signs of growing new roots, the timing is perfect for what the orchid is doing, however, it is late in the year (October '20) to be doing a transition like this, because this is a warm grower, and there is not much time left for the orchid to establish itself, as the night temperatures have dropped considerably. I do not want to watch this orchid grow out of the pot in 12 months, so... here we go! Let's take this challenge on, and keep our fingers crossed that it will take kindly to the new set up!
I really appreciate the fact that you took the time to watch my video. I am very open to any comments or questions, this video may have brought up.
