On April 15, 2022 at approximately 7:39 P.M., I was traveling westbound on United States Highway 278 near North Gabbert Street when I observed a black Buick passenger car traveling westbound on United States Highway 278. I noticed the operator, John King, did not have on his seatbelt. I also noticed the passenger side tail light was busted. After observing the violations I activated my blue lights and attempted to make a traffic stop on Mr. King as the vehicle turned north onto North Gabbert Street. Mr. King refused to stop and continued traveling northbound on North Gabbert Street towards Pope Street at a low rate of speed. Mr. King signaled for me to follow him and ignored my commands to pull over immediately. Mr. King traveled approximately one mile north on North Gabbert Street before pulling into a driveway off of State Highway 83 near Godbold Street. I exited my patrol vehicle and made contact with Mr. King. I advised him the reason for the stop and asked him why he didn't pull over once I activated my lights and siren. Mr. King advised me he was just trying to get to his dad's house so he could park his vehicle.
Mr. King was issued citation # 4009833367 and 4009833367 for the following charges, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, driving on suspended license, no seatbelt, unsafe vehicle and failure to display vehicle registration.
