Today we have a patient in her late 30's who got silicone injections in her buttocks about 10 years ago. Over time, the injections began to cause a large amount of pain in the patient as well as swelling due to the development of scar tissue around the silicone. After doing an MRI Dr. Katzen was able to determine that the silicone has not spread to the patient's gluteal muscle, it's only in the fatty layer of the buttocks.
