Let's talk electric vehicles for a minute.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
Sure, electric vehicles produce fewer emissions than an internal combustion vehicle, but what about making the different cars?
Building a conventional gas car generates about six tons of CO2.
Producing an electric car with a range comparable to a gas engine, about 400 miles, generates over twenty-five tons of CO2.
So, you have to drive the electric vehicle about 180,000 miles before the electric vehicle actually cuts emissions.
What is the average life expectancy of a vehicle, you ask? Well, it is about 180,000 miles.
So, if you really want to save the planet, consider a hybrid. Its initial carbon footprint and operating emissions are between electric and gas cars.
Remember this the next time some politician tries to call an electric vehicle a zero-emissions car.
