Not many people know about it, but Ireland and the Netherlands colluded during their Group F match at the 1990 world cup. The game was 1-1 after Ireland equalized after 71 minutes, and because England were beating Egypt 1-0 in the other match, it meant that a draw would mean Ireland and the Netherlands would both qualify for the knockout stage. Because of this, both sides more or less stopped playing.
