Bob Chiaradio, a solid citizen of Westerly, RI, addresses the town council on two key issues.

The first is the removal of Zoom from town council and school committee meetings that might stifle resident attendance and participation. The reasons given that some cannot attend might be due to illness, vacation of travel but these very same people would still like to join in through Zoom. Zoom cost $250 per meeting while Westerly is third in per pupil expenditure in Rhode Island at $26K per student.

The second point of order is the ongoing battle with the school committee to remove some books from the school’s libraries and in some case, a teacher’s classroom. These books often depicts pornographic, obscene and in some cartoon depictions, what might be viewed as pedophilia.

He brings up the numerous times he’s addressed the school committee, went through the required obstacle courses, filed a complaint with the town manager and most recently, a criminal complaint with the attorney general’s office which has sat on hands.
