The Nielsen Ratings System has been the standard for decades. There is a reason for that. Top notch data gathering and analysis. They understand the business of television and related entertainment almost better than advertisers or broadcasters.

The industry has been trying to remove Nielsen's domination as the metrics marking successful show or film for quite sometime now. They thought they had secured ways to influence "reporting" by creating partnerships with new "measurement" services. They were wrong. The new Nielsen product is substantial and does far more than the new competitors.
