In 1931, Famed Explorer Richard Byrd sent out a team to exhibit to the country what they had found on their Antarctic Expedition. Two of his prized huskies were on the trip when it stopped in Monroe. One of the dogs would end up dead, and the monument the Monroe citizens built for it went missing. This Louisiana History Minute tells the story of Unalaska's death and stolen memorial.
