An elderly Ukrainian woman has become the new, unlikely face of Kremlin propaganda.

In Russia, she is known as ‘Babushka-Z’ the Russian word for grandmother.

It comes after a video, which shows her walking towards two Ukrainian soldiers holding a red Soviet flag, went viral.

The soldiers said they had arrived to help and offer her a bag of food, but they take the flag off her, throw it on the ground and stamp on it.

So, the woman, feeling insulted, gives the food back to them.

"My parents died for that flag in World War Two," she said.

Now murals, placards and even statues of her holding the Soviet flag have appeared all over Russia.
