Juneteenth: Coming Together as Americans

American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) Senior Director of the Task Force on International Relations as well as the Task Force on Federalism, Karla Jones, commemorates Juneteenth, our nation’s newest federal holiday. It is known as “Juneteenth Independence Day,” “Freedom Day” or “Emancipation Day." This day has been celebrated since the 1800s by African Americans, and now it’s a day that all Americans can and should commemorate.
