Q. Can Demons Inhabit Believers // Can a Christian be demon-possessed?

There are people on both sides of the issue. This is there reasoning for it:

Some say “yes” a believer can in fact be possessed by a demon
Who dares assert that a demon spirit will not invade the life of a believer in which the Holy Spirit has been grieved by serious and persistent sin and quenched by flagrant disobedience? . . . A demon . . . enters as a squatter and an intruder, and is subject to momentary eviction. . . . Only as the believer fails to walk by faith does he fall into sin, which if it is not confessed and curbed, may ultimately result in the forfeiture of the Spirit’s power to shield him from demonic invasion (Merrill Unger, What Demons Can Do to Saints [Chicago: Moody, 1977], pp. 51–52).
Here is a problem with that thought: “There is no biblical example of a demon possessing and entering into a believer. It might sound “logical” but is it defiantly not “Biblical.”

The Bible Is The Standard.

Proverbs 30:5-6, Galatians 1:8

God’s Word is our trusted source for Satan and his demons. If Satan or Demons could enter into a Believer then there would be some type of warning, example, or parable given to us to protect us from the Evil One.

2 Corinthians 6:15-16

Colossians 1:13

Matthew 12:43-45 ~ Jesus Gives Us An Example Of An Occupied Soul And An Unoccupied Soul:

-Many People Give The Appearance That Their Lives Are In Order.

-They Can Give Off This Appearance Without Having Jesus Truly In Their Hearts.

-Their Souls Are Unoccupied, Meaning The Holy Spirit Does Not Live There.

-These People Are OPEN To Demon Possession.

-The Opposite Is True About Believers:

1 Peter 1:5

DEMONS CANNOT POSSESS A BELIEVER, BUT THEY CAN OPPRESS ONE

Job 1:6-12

Satan accused Job of serving God because God blessed him and protected him.

Satan was able to take away his earthly blessings and his true heart was to be exposed:

Job’s response to this pain and brokenness: Job 1:20-22

Satan continued his assault on Job and afflicted his physical body with boils.

1. There was no binding Satan.

2. There was no casting out Satan.

Q. Can our afflictions, orchestrated by Satan, be to our benefit?

Through Job’s Satanic Attack, he was able to become more aware of his sin and the greatness of God.

Job 40:4-5

Through Job’s Satanic Attack, he was able submit to God’s sovereign purpose no matter what the cost.

Job 42:2-6

Application

When we fully submit to the trials before it reveals what is deeply planted and rooted in our hearts for all to see.

When we fully submit to the trials before it reveals the honor and trust the Lord gives to His people as He reveals their true purpose.

When we fully submit to the trials before it reveals the deep need to trust the Lord in ALL trials.

1 Peter 4:19, 19So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you.
