If we had more of this type of behavior, perhaps there wouldn't be the kind of blatant intimidation of Supreme Court Justices outside of their homes that we have recently seen, which is completely inappropriate. But what Sotomayor did here was something that a role model would do, she explained to people that her polar opposite in her place of employment and in her official office, Justice Thomas, is a good and decent human being even though the two of them do not see eye-to-eye, and it was sincere.

Even though I disagree with her legal ideology, I have a lot of respect for the words she spoke at this venue and I hope we see a great deal more of this in the near future because God knows this country could use it. This demonstrates humanity on both of their parts, and if she is sincere in what she said, both of them deserve to have that understanding relayed to the public.
