Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (Demo) - Chapter 1.1: The Battle of Hyrule Field (Very Hard)

Yesterday's Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase capped off with a new trailer and demo release for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo's prequel to the smash hit Nintendo Switch launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild! Since my progress in the demo will carry over to the full game on November 20, I thought I would start my playthrough of the new Hyrule Warriors game three weeks early!

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a canon entry into the Zelda series that serves as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that plays out the events of the Great Calamity that ravaged Hyrule 100 years before the events of BOTW, with hack-and-slash gameplay similar to Koei Tecmo's previous Hyrule Warriors entry. The cast of characters includes returning characters from BOTW including Link, Zelda, Impa, Purah, Robbie, the four champions, Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan who will kill you to death, among others. Bond with these characters as their story plays out only to be heartbroken when everything falls apart!

Just like the first Hyrule Warriors, you can collect materials in each battle to upgrade your characters and weapons, as well as unlock new facilities! And the best part is, unlike in Breath of the Wild, your weapons don't break!

As the story begins, the prophecy of Calamity Ganon's revival has brought a horde of monsters unlike anything King Rhoam has ever seen before upon Hyrule Castle, and Link must stop them! Along the way, Impa, now 100 years younger, runs by with a Sheikah Slate which falls out of her hands into Link's and activates, which also activates a tiny Guardian robot who totally is not R2D2, and makes a giant tower rise from the ground in Hyrule Field.
