The late, late carrots!

On this frosty October 31st morning, Stan was out trying to burn the pile of pepper and lima bean plants. There was a lot of smoke, but not much fire! He also dug up the rest of the carrots--looks like they finally grew. I never should have dug them up two months ago. They are grotesque, muddy critters and I have no idea if they will be bitter, but they did end up yielding. I think our growing season is just not long enough here for carrots.

The field corn was harvested this week so we have a horizon again--just in time for tonight's "blue" hunter's moon. Sounds good to me. I recovered from a mild bout of Covid and just got my sense of smell and taste back yesterday--I am thankful for that God-given gift. So many gifts I take for granted until they are taken away.
