For years, people in the Hawaii tennis community were calling for a mixed doubles event with the previous success of the Men's & Women's Night Doubles events. If mixed doubles were to be held, it would be a party on the court. In 2014, Tournament Director Bruce Nagel & the Kailua Racquet Club made that wish become a reality as a mixed doubles division was added to the Women's Night Doubles event. With a lot of unknown on the court this time around in the 34, the buzz began as spectators & players wondered who would rise to the top of the inaugural Mixed Night Doubles tournament!

For the first ever mixed night doubles final, Night Doubles veteran Rong Ma partnered with Brigham Young University Hawaii women's tennis star Karen Liu & boy, what a team that was. Ever team they faced, they routined. They clearly looked like the early team to contend of the mixed title. In their way stood a couple Hawaii Pacific University Alumni as multi-time Men's Night Doubles champion Mikael Maatta & KRC teaching pro & former HPU women's tennis veteran Zora Vlckova. Mikael brought the quick hands & touch while Zora brought the power & energy to fire the crowd up. For the first ever Mixed Night Doubles title, these two teams put on a show!
