The male Great Blue Heron arrives at the nest, pauses a moment, then mates with the female Heron. While mating, another Great Blue Heron flies in, landing close to the nest. The male then goes over to the other Heron, spreading his wings. He does this several times, but the visitor still remains until the female joins the male, also spreading her wings. The visitor then flies away and she returns to the nest.
