Coho Salmon, Trout And Steelhead Fishing Michigan / Steelhead Slammer Spinners First Impressions

In this Michigan fishing video I am after Steelhead! Along the way I pick up the usual suspects. Coho Salmon, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Creek Chubs and We even had 3 steelhead on in the last 2 weeks but didn't land any. Jason found these Steelhead Slammer spinners and we ordered 10 of them to share and so far they seem to work great! We were both impressed with the look and design for sure. The Steelhead Slammers Spinners spin with and against the current, fast or slow. I have owned so many spinners that just don't like to spin and these spin like a Mepps spinner (always). The difference between these and a Mepps is a smaller blade with a heavier body which allows the spinner to work deep water more easily. Steelhead are known for hugging the bottom so getting down to them is key! aside from tossins spinners I have been doing a lot of float fishing with skein, I have been hooking into Salmon, steelhead, Brown trout and Rainbow trout with skein under a bobber this 2020 fall season and have been getting lots of action on skein. Spawn bags haven't got me a bite yet but the fish are slamming skein like its the last meal they will ever eat! This is the first of many 2020 steelhead fishing videos you can expect from me. hopefully I land the next one lol. I lost my first fall steelhead of 2020 for 3 reasons. My leader was 6lb maxima ultra green and it broke when I tightened the drag to keep it off a log jam. Also this was y first big fish I've fought on a centerpin and I lack experience batteling big fish with a centerpin fishing reel. I definitely over tightened the manual drag and that combined with log jams and a light leader was a bad combination. It was a great learning experience fo me to get better at center pin fishing.

Trout fishing, salmon fishing and steelhead fishing is like Christmas to me and fall is the best time of the year to be a Michigan fisherman! I am an amateur when it comes to Trout and salmon but this has been my most successful salmon season yet and I know ill be able to say the same about steelhead fishing before fall is over. I have learned most of what I know about salmon, steelhead and trout fishing in the last 3 years and I have a lot to learn but I feel like it is all coming together finally!
