Mount Saint Helens: Climbing a Volcano

In this video I climbed up Mount Saint Helens in Washington State. Hiking on this snow covered volcano is an amazing experience! I drove all through the night to reach the trailhead and only slept for one hour. I arrived at Marble Mountain Sno-Park at 3:30am and the parking lot was completely packed with tents and vehicles. Dozens of climbers were already preparing to hit the trail so I got my gear together and joined them. It was still pitch black outside when I started down the trail and I had to use a headlamp to light my way. It was 32°F (0°C) at the base of the mountain. As I approached the summit, the winds were around 10mph (16.1kmh) and the temperature dropped to around 24°F (-4.4°C) with windchill. I recorded a total of 11.1 miles (17.9km) with a total elevation gain of 5,581 feet (1,701m). My total time was 10 hours and 32 minutes. It was a beautiful day with clear views of Mt Rainier, Adams, Hood, and Jefferson!
