Judges 2:1-15 Israel's Downward Spiral"
Notice the consequences for their disobedience was that the Lord would NOT drive out their enemies.
They were on their own…if you are going to indulge in and compromise with sin…there will be consequences.
Now the Lord could have terminated the covenant with Israel as a consequence…
But instead, He wanted to bring them too repentance for their sin of disobedience.
And the thought of God not going before them made the people of Israel weep and mourn.
That is what the name Bochim means “to weep,” or a “place of weeping.”
But what were the weeping over? The consequences…or the fact that they were disobedient to the Word of God?
There is Godly sorrow and sorrow in the flesh…sorrow in the flesh is sorrow that you were caught…
Godly sorrow is when your heart breaks over your sin…and you sorrow over the fact that you hurt God by your actions.
Godly sorrow doesn’t just lead to tears…it leads to a change in our behavior.
