Dock Fishing with Cut Bait Lake Michigan / Jumbo Perch & Panfish / Monster Dogfish snaps my Lamiglas

In this Michigan fishing video we are dock fishing with cut bait in a Lake Michigan Marina. We Got into big Perch, Panfish, Bullhead, Bass and dogfish! We just got done filming a fishing charter with our friends at West Michigan Guide Service and the plan was for Jason and I to go trout fishing afterwords but when we got back to the dock we noticed some jumbo perch so we decided to give the dock fishing a try and it paid off big for Jason and I. Neither Jason or I had used cut bait much in the past but we had scraps of salmon on hand and I saw a perch snag a piece that got away so it seemed like the right thing to do. Salmon makes great cut bait but it also is top tier dog food so we switched to rock bass cut bait and managed to do well that way. One pro to fishing with cut bait is you tend to get more things like gar, catfish and dogfish and in this case we caught I believe 6 dogfish aka bowfin. Bowfin fishing is among salmon and steelhead in terms of fighting capability and they are known to put up an epic fight.I love to target dogfish in the summer when I start to miss the big tug that I get so used to in salmon and steelhead fishing.Show more

Ive said it before and ill say it again great lakes fishing is out of my league and out of my comfort zone in a lot of ways and most of my attempts to fish Lake Michigan have been skunk fests. I hate peir fishing due to the fact that every time I fish any lake Michigan peir I don't catch jack. This was a great change of pace lol I never wold have thought of cutbait fishing for perch but in this case it makes sense. Cut bait fishing for dogfish on the other hand makes perfect sense.
