Speeding Ticket in Oklahoma!

As we all know, these types of tickets have never slowed anyone down, and never have prevented an accident. It's common knowledge it's about the revenue for the County and Towns that run these types of operations.

I was goign 65mph prior to town maybe even 2-3 over just to be slightly above. The speed limit dropped to 55mph then to 45mph then to 40mph then even to 35mph if school was in. That is a lot of various signs to possibly miss. However I remember slowing down because I was Urban Exploring and looking for interesting buildings to video as you have seen some already.

Where the cop claims to have been waiting on the citation he didn't have view to the east. So that means my story lines up with what I told him. I slowed to 40mph (he claims I did 60 through town) now he got me mistaking a sign due to missing one as I was looking at the abandoned basketball court and the abandoned antique shop on my left. Yes, I did speed up per his original concern before the wrong sign. There are 17 signs on the right side of the roadway for such a small town. An honest mistake with a view of in front of me of fields at this point.

It's pretty easy for a driver, know they passed a sign but didn't catch it and think "hey the speed goes back up there is nothing in front of me". I have been through hundreds of small towns like these. Usually the speed limit picks up right on the other side, this town however seems to be setup as a speed trap, the 65mph sign is indeed way past town.

No one was out. No school, no vehicles in front, behind or oncoming. Did I speed up technically before the sign, sure. Did I speed through town as a whole, NO, the main part of town with the homes, school, grain elevator where it would be a safety issue I was goign 40mph because I was looking at the town to see if there was anything to film.

What to do? I think I might drive back it's only 4 hours away. I have already called the court and the lady was very nice, helpful and pleasant to talk to. They are probably so used to out of state people not returning the cop will be shocked. I don't think I deserve a ticket for the whole amount at least how the officer claimed what I did. Want to say I speed up too soon sure guilty I missed a sign, but come on officer discretion.

No one int he right mind slows down from 68-65 to 60 and continue through town...I might of well stayed at 68 if that was the case...LOL

Stay tuned, for the updated video on my trip, and I'll do more exploring while out there also...why not and write the trip off for my YouTube. Plus I think it makes for an interesting video to show people how courts work. Maybe the cop doesn't even show and I'm saved $279 and have a fun drive exploring stuff. Maybe I still have to pay $279 but get it changed to a non-moving violation so no points etc.
