Recipe for the Alfajores:

400 grams of flour
300 grams Crisco butter
200 grams cornstarch
3/4 cups tea of anise
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 13.5 oz dolce de leche
powder sugar for topping

Pre heat over to 350 degrees. Pour flour onto a clean table and make a circle hole in the middle. Add the cornstarch to the middle of the hole and spread out another circle/hole. add the sugar, baking powder and salt to middle of the hole. Add the Crisco butter. Pour in tea of anise and knead into a dough. With a rolling pin roll out dough evenly. Use a fork to puncture holes into the dough. Use a circle cookie cutter of your choice to cut out cookie shapes. On a baking pan coated with flour bake cookies for 45 mins. Let the cookies cool and then add generous amount of dolce de leche and sandwich between another cookie. Last step, sift powdered sugar on top of cookies and ENJOY!!
